Case Study
Gotrade: Live Trading
We believe stock trading doesn't have to be done alone. It is very helpful to be able to discuss and get insights about the market, stocks, and everything related. We build this feature to make sure we cater that for our users.

The objective
By making a medium where users can get and share insights from a live session, we plan to achieve several things:
  • - Making trading more social for the users.
  • - More retention, as users will open the app to watch it.
  • - Easier for beginners to get insights.
  • - Easier for traders to get trading signals.
Stock trading live experience
We make it easier for users to get insights by bringing a live session feature into the app. As there might be stocks that are discussed in the session, we provide a live-updated chart at the bottom, where users can easily click to trade right away.

As the discussion evolves, the stocks mentioned might change or be added, so we also prepared access where people can see the list of stocks mentioned, making it easy to recheck.
See it the way you want
From our research, we learned that there are various behaviors when it comes to trading during a live session. Some want to jump in and explore right away, some want less distraction. We give options to get a clear display and also PiP so users can still watch while exploring.
Various possibilities
As the live session can get very dynamic and invite users to interact in many ways, I've prepared several types of components that can be adjusted based on what the host might need. From showing comparisons to showing polls.
Easily found
I’ve prepared two types of entry points on the home screen, to adjust based on what's happening. There might be times when there is only one live session, but along the way there will be times when there are many. I make sure the design is prepared to handle both and can scale easily, by still providing adequate information for users.
Prepared for anything
I've also prepared for various possibilities that might happen during the live session, such as a loss of connection. I made sure users know what's happening when there is an error.

As we value user experience, I also put a section where users can rate their experience, and allow them to share what they have in mind if the review is bad.
The conclusion
With the making of Live Charting on Gotrade, users can interact more with the insights from Gotrade’s licensed investment analyst, and also from other traders about certain stocks.

This interaction can help beginners to understand more about stock trading and what to consider, packaged in an experience that’s more delightful. As live charting sessions are held regularly, this feature also brings more stable user retention.
